During a recent visit to our Milton Keynes site, Callum Anderson, the MP for Buckingham and Bletchley, highlighted the growing interest in decarbonisation. He noted how an increasing number of companies are making the switch to electric vehicles, marking a significant shift towards sustainable practices.
Driving Local Innovation and Economic Growth
Callum was impressed by our innovative microgrid, which features 200 solar panels and a 300-kilowatt battery system powering 34 electric charging points, emphasising the importance of local businesses driving sustainable innovation.
“I’m really proud to have an innovative, sustainable business like Dawsongroup vans operating right here in Bletchley,” Callum stated. He highlighted that attracting and supporting forward-thinking companies like Dawsongroup is crucial for establishing the region’s reputation as an innovation hub.
A Model for Decarbonisation in Commercial Fleets
Our microgrid project represents more than just technological advancements. It’s a practical model for other businesses looking to decarbonise their operations and expand their electric vehicle infrastructure. As Catherine Bowen, Head of Decarbonisation & Future Mobility for BVRLA, said, “Microgrids like this one here today are a great example that others can learn from.”
Clean Energy in Action
The visit showcased how local businesses, green energy, and zero-emission transport are coming together. The microgrid not only reduces carbon emissions but also provides a practical solution for businesses struggling with electric vehicle charging infrastructure. By generating, storing, and using our own green energy, we ensure that every vehicle delivered to our customers is powered by 100% clean, locally produced electricity.
Catherine Bowen added, “If we see more of these microgrids rolled out across the country, then that gives a lot more access to charging for commercial vehicles, and we can see much wider application.”
Building a Sustainable Business Model
By demonstrating how clean energy can be generated, stored, and utilised on-site, not only are we reducing carbon emissions – we’re creating a blueprint for future sustainable business operations.
