To mark the 5-year anniversary of Dawsongroup acquiring Transflex Vehicle Rental, Dawsongroup vans held a special event at its Stockton branch. At the celebration, the former Transflex staff who are still working for Dawsongroup vans were presented with their 5-year service award by Steve Miller, Dawsongroup CEO.

In April 2018, Dawsongroup completed the acquisition of Transflex Vehicle Rental, growing Dawsongroup’s van business substantially. One of the most notable actions within the acquisition was the ability to secure all 80 jobs for the Transflex staff, who would have been facing redundancy otherwise. The acquisition also grew the Dawsongroup vans fleet by 3500 vehicles, taking the total fleet size to approximately 9000 vehicles, alongside increasing its coverage of the UK by adding four new branches into the existing network.
Five years on from the acquisition, Dawsongroup vans has gone from strength to strength. The company has experienced significant growth, expanding the fleet size to around 13,000 vehicles and counting. In addition to this, numerous new team members have started at Dawsongroup vans during this period, joining the existing team which includes 34 people who were involved in the Transflex acquisition and are still working at Dawsongroup.
One of the biggest benefits for Dawsongroup vans has been the addition of Transflex’s four branches into its existing nationwide network. “The Transflex locations were a perfect addition to our existing network of branches, significantly strengthening our operation,” said Simon Ridley, Managing Director of Dawsongroup vans. “The addition of these sites has allowed us to grow the business with confidence, creating new services and opportunities that all contribute to better service for all of our customers.”
A key factor contributing to the success and retention of staff following the acquisition has been the shared commitment around providing the best possible customer experience. Gary Henry, Sales Director for Dawsongroup vans and formerly Sales Director at Transflex, said, “A lot of the team had worked together previously at other companies, which gave both parties confidence that when the two companies joined, we could create a stronger force in the LCV market. The amazing progress made since the acquisition highlights the remarkable results that can be achieved when two teams who share the same values are brought together and all work towards the same goal – to become leaders in our industry and provide the best possible service.”
